I come before you, my esteemed brothers and sisters, and ask for your prayers. We are trying to buy a house and it is not going so well.

We learned that in the summer President Bush signed into law a bill that eliminated the zero down payment loans that used to exist. There are very few routes now for first time home buyers to go except through FHA and the 3% down payment.

We have found a wonderful house that has a large backyard with a building in it. The building would be perfect for our little chapel!

The house list for $72,000. It is 1400 sq ft and has a brand new AC unit, Dishwasher, Roof and Water Heater. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is the perfect house for us, since we have an eight year old son and my 55 year old mother-in-law (who has schizophrenia and paranoia) also lives with us.

Here is the dilemma we face: We can get about $1200 of the needed $2200 down payment out of my wife’s 403b. But that is not enough, of course. We need to come up with $1000 before October 31. We have called our family and friends and have come up dry. Being in the Independent Movement, we don’t have a church body we can ask for help.

So we are stuck. We really love this house. It would lower our payments from $705 a month in rent at an apartment and give us $585 a month house payment on a house we would own.

I need your prayers and your guidance. I have never bought a house before and the stress is about to kill me. My wife is beside herself! And when momma isn’t happy…you get the picture.
